Summary:

The Sales Representative is responsible for functions related to the sale of industrial fasteners. Reports to: Assistant Sales Manager.


Qualifications:

* High school education supplemented by advanced training in business, sales, or material control, preferably comparable to a college degree.

* 2 - 3 years experience in one or more areas related to purchasing, material control, or sales of fasteners or other industrial products. Possess good communication and math skills with ability to handle 40 - 50 pound items.

* Any other equivalent combination of training and experience.


Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Plans and participates in direct sales contacts with customers. Conducts telephone or in-person prospecting, sales presentations, new account development and periodic re-selling of current accounts, on an individual basis. May develop and present special marketing, sales or pricing programs for customers.

2. Solicits sales of fasteners and related products. Computes price quotes following pricing and profit guidelines. Confers with Engineers when quote involves new products, new dies, or other engineering issues. Types and sends quotes to customer. Travels to visit customers and conducts sales presentations.

3. Receives customer orders, verifies pricing. Refers order to others for computer entry. Issues purchase requisitions for products for resale. Responds to customer inquiries. Resolves problems related to orders, deliveries, etc.

4. Assists Sales Manager in providing monthly forecasts and periodic
budget information. Provides assessment relating customer and budgetary issues.

5. Periodically participates in audit and physical inventory count of products on hand. Adjusts inventory records and reconciles discrepancies.

6. Creates customers account files. Maintains records on quotes, orders, pricing, deliveries, etc. in manual and/or computerized formats. Submits sales and expense reports as directed.

7. Operates computes, office equipment such as telephone, calculator, fax, etc. Performs tasks in office and warehouse environment. May operate material handling equipment. Lifts and moves items weighting 40 —50 lbs. Travels to customer site.

8. Performs a variety of special projects. Assists others and fills in as needed. Participates in committees and training. Recommends improvements. Performs other tasks as requested.
