Japanese IT company is currently looking for an Accounting Manager to head the Accounting Department in our New York
Office.

Key Responsibilities:
• Maintains the company’s system of accounts, books, and records of all transactions, including coordinating and administering accounting operations such as general accounting, cost accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Oversees all functions of the Accounting Department, by enforcing company policy, evaluating budgetary achievements, supervising staff, and reporting to the President & CEO regularly.
• Other responsibilities include day-to-day accounting functions, including tax compliance (direct/indirect), cash management, and finance reporting.
• Prepares required tax-related forms and reports including but not limited to sales and use tax, commercial rent tax, etc.
• Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Coordinates year-end audit review for internal and external auditors. Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely fashion and provide support and assistance for any audit requests.
• Manage periodical reporting to HQ upon closing
• Prepares required tax-related forms and reports including but not limited to sales.
• Posts journal entries, A/P, A/R, WIP, merchandise, and adjustments.
• Performs cash management functions.
• Supports budget and forecasting activities.
• Supervises staff and contributes to employment decisions.
• Maintain and streamline business process by reviewing the current processes and evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of controls. Identify the area of improvements. Plan and take actions for improvement .
• Participate in team, company, or other meetings and occasional training and webinars, as needed or requested.
• The right candidate will possess:
• Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrating the ability to collaborate and prepare communications/presentations, reports, and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to deliver quality work, manage time and multiple tasks in stressful situations effectively, adapt to changing priorities, and respond with urgency to requests while remaining focused on strategic imperatives.
• Experience in a multicultural working environment and sensitivity to intercultural issues.
• Experience with SAP preferred.
• Willingness to learn new systems and support SAP migration.
• Ability to maintaining confidentiality of all financial data.


Skills & Qualifications:
• Proficient English and Japanese communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must.
• Understanding of financial reporting, fixed asset modules and general ledger structure.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
• Sensitivity to inter-cultural issues and communication styles and ability to thrive in multi-cultural environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically in Excel or similar software and willingness to learn new software, specifically ERP systems.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail-orientated skills, along with the ability to organize thoughts and ideas.
• Teamwork skills and motivation to work effectively across functions collaboratively, as well as independently.
• Must possess supervisory skills and management experience.
• CPA, Knowledge of Japanese accounting principles a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years' general accounting experience and two (2) years as a manager of an accounting department.

• 100K – 105K
