The company is a Japan-based company engaged in newsgathering and electronic news and data distribution and analysis primarily in the fields of economics, finance, business, and international trade. The New York office is responsible for monitoring, gathering, analyzing and reporting news, data and other information of interest originating or sourced in the United States.

< Your Role >
The company is looking for a correspondent for its NY office.
This position is responsible for reporting and analyzing information related to economics, finance, business, and more, based on instructions from the bureau chief and news editor.

< Responsibilities >
•Seek out and gather information on the stock market, bond market, foreign exchange market, commodity market, etc.
•Write news stories, articles, and columns for Nikkei’s various publications, with an emphasis on electronic media, including QUICK and Nikkei Online Edition.
•Evaluate, verify, and fact-check information through interviews and research.
•Collaborate with other correspondents to enhance the overall performance of the news section, as directed by the bureau chief and news editor.
•Perform other tasks related to the operations and activities of the New York office of NQN, as needed

$58,000 to $66,000

< Educational and Experience >
•Bachelor’s degree
•A minimum of two to three years of experience in a media/financial field

< What you need to be successful in this role >
•Strong sense of journalistic integrity and professionalism
•Excellent command of both Japanese and English
•Advanced knowledge and keen interest in economics, finance, business, etc.
•Ability to produce high-quality work with minimal errors and in a timely manner
•Solid communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly understand supervisor’s instructions and keep the supervisor informed of work status and progress
•Computer literacy with the ability to learn and use current and future software applications and digital devices used in the news section
