Overview:
The Japanese TV company has an opening in its NYC bureau for the Associate Producer position.
News Gathering:
• Collect information, data, and materials required for news reporting and production from contacts, news outlets, and other sources. Compile and organize collected information and findings into clear, accessible formats/ style for correspondents.
• Work with correspondents to ensure that the collected information is relevant to the topics.
• Cultivate and maintain relationship with reliable sources who can provide tips and news leads.
Researching:
• Research topics assigned by correspondents. Identify persons, organizations or experts for interviews and commentary to gather in-depth information, analysis, or opinions about the topics.
Content Creation:
• Pitch story ideas and contribute to brainstorming session to generate relevant story idea for news stories or tv programs.
• Write research briefs, provide background information, facts, and statistics to correspondents to enhance story development and contribute to the creation of program content.
Planning & Logistics:
• Negotiate, make appointments for and schedule interviews with sources and filming.
• Coordinate logistics including transportation, accommodation, and any others necessary arrangement for news gathering, filming and production.
Writing and Reporting:
• Occasionally assigned to write news scripts and conduct on-air/ on-site reporting of news contents.
Verification:
• Verify information and ensure that all contents are accurate, fact-checked and objective.
Requirements:
The following descriptions are guideline and equivalent combination of education and experience will suffice the qualifications of the position.
Experience: Several years of experience in television production industry, preferably in a live broadcast environment, or television production or similar field.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of new reports broadcasting and tv program production process and techniques.
Computer: Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, Internet
Language: Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
It’s preferable if speak, read, write, and communicate in Japanese and other languages.
