1. General Position Summary:
This position is responsible for establishing strategies on how to grow business within
the automotive market by using relevant data concerning market situations, needs, and
competitive positions.
2. Essential Job Functions:
(1) Manages Sales and Marketing Operations:
by establishing and implementing marketing and sales plans and budgets; by
establishing the marketing and sales strategy for developing the Ultrasuede market for
the automotive industry based on relevant data concerning the short and long term
market, customer demands, and competitive positioning; by developing and proposing
the strategic Annual plans, the annual marketing, and sales plan and the annual budget;
by implementing the marketing and sales plan upon the approval of the strategic,
marketing and sales plans; by making presentations about products to current and
prospective customers; by monitoring the progress of the marketing and sales plan
implementation and changes in the market; by acknowledging all relevant changes in the
market; and by recommending necessary modifications to the plan and strategy to
accommodate changes in the market.
(2) Increases Profits
by analyzing sales trends and operating efficiency, product presentations, and best
practices to maximize profit; by researching and identifying potential customers; by
developing proactive sales methods including end-user customer presentations and
phone sales; and by seeking new business opportunities at trade shows and industry
events.
(3) Performs Marketing Functions:
by monitoring conditions of the market, as well as, competitive strategies; by initiating
counter actions as necessary; by preparing the annual communication and advertising
needs for the business unit; and by forwarding plans to the General Manager for
inclusion in the annual corporate communication and advertising budget.
(4) Establishes and Manages Customer Relationships:
by managing customer relationships; by developing relationships in all major aspects.
(5) Develops and Establishes New Business Opportunities:
by introducing Ultrasuede to the U.S. automobile industry; by developing trial programs
for automobile manufacturers to test the product; and by identifying new applications and
business within the automotive industry.
(6) Performs Sales Support Functions:
by processing sales data and generating sales reports; by receiving, processing, and
confirming orders; by creating purchase orders, letters of credit, and sales contracts; by
documenting new project inquiries from new and current clients; by making quotations
and sending them to the customers; by contacting customers to troubleshoot problems
as they occur; and by performing any other sales support functions as necessary.
3. Other Requirement:
The Staff Member will work beyond normal business hours when necessary. 2-3 times
business trips per month nationwide in the US and 2-3 times trips to Central & South
Americas and South East Asia per year.
4. Physical Requirements:
Physical Requirements
 While performing the duties of this job, the Staff Member is regularly required to
sit and talk or hear. The Staff Member is occasionally required to stand, walk,
use hands to pick up, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
 The Staff Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
 This position requires vision abilities such as close vision and the ability to adjust
focus.
5. Essential Job Requirements:
A. Language Skills
 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, forms, and
instructions in English and Japanese.
 Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in
English and Japanese.
 Ability to effectively respond to questions from Management, Staff, clients, and
the general public in English and Japanese
 Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups in English
and Japanese.
B. Mathematical Skills
 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest,
commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
 Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and to draw and interpret
bar graphs.
C. Reasoning Skills
 Ability to apply knowledge and sense of understanding to carry out detailed
written or oral instructions.
 Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists.
 Ability to analyze and use various documents (contracts, purchase orders, etc.).
D. Computer Skills
 Ability to use a computer and such applications as Microsoft Windows, Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes and be able to design custom reports as
necessary.
E. Other Skills
 Must be tactful, mature, flexible, and able to successfully respond to
multiple work pressures. High communication skill is required.
6. Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or university, and four to five
years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
