Role Description:
The accounting manager will oversee the finance and accounting functions as well as support payroll activities as part of the back-office team. The role is integral to driving business growth through strong leadership, collaboration, and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities:
●Oversee all finance and accounting operations.
●Coordinate with an outsourcing firm and the Tokyo office to execute monthly financial closings.
●Partner with the front-office personnel to fine-tune monthly closings, forecasts, and cash flow planning.
●Establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
●Prepare business activity reports, monthly financial forecasts, and annual budgets, ensuring, ensuring compliance with GAAP - generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
●Manage tax planning throughout the fiscal year, corporate tax filings, and audits to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Coordinate with outside auditors and provide the necessary information for the annual external audit.
●Present recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
●Provide financial analysis to support capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
●Actively communicate with stakeholders, including HR Manager, Sr. Managers, and Executives, to review and optimize interdepartmental processes.
●Leads the annual financial statement audit/review by third parties and investor(s), and assist with due diligence and special projects.
●with the HR Manager on bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in salaries, benefit deductions, payroll taxes, reimbursements, adjustments, payroll allocations, and reconciliations.
●Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications:
●Business level Japanese, must be able to read, write and speak in Japanese
●Extensive experience in accounting, payroll functions, and compliance with multi-state payroll regulations.
●Demonstrated strong leadership abilities, leading cross-functional initiatives and effectively driving process and decision-making.
●Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
●Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-finance professionals.
●Ability to prioritize workload from multiple departments and requestor in a small to medium-sized work environment and be agile.
●Ability to work independently, without direct guidance, but equally able to adapt to a team environment.
●Proficiency in NetSuite, payroll software (preferably ADP), and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
●8-10+ years of relevant experience required.
●Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
●CPA preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of desk work and computer use.
Ability to travel as needed.
Onsite work required 3 days per week.
