Location: Schaumburg, IL (Hybrid – 2 days remote per week)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 (DOE)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead and oversee purchasing activities for OEM products. This is a newly created position, and while internal hiring plans are under adjustment, the company is open to strong candidate introductions.

The role involves managing purchasing operations, supplier relationships, and cross-departmental collaboration with sales, engineering, production, and quality teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong management experience, industry knowledge, and the ability to read technical drawings.

Essential Job Functions
Purchasing (60%)
Lead and oversee purchasing operations, including preparation of purchase orders and RFQs.
Evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, service, availability, and performance history.
Analyze pricing and financial data to determine cost-effective sourcing strategies.
Negotiate and administer contracts with suppliers.
Monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve issues related to undelivered goods.
Support supplier assessment, quality audits, and compliance with applicable regulations.
Stay current with industry trends through trade shows and professional networks.
Sales/Engineering/Production/Quality/Accounting Support (30%)
Collaborate with production control on delivery schedules.
Coordinate with supplier quality control to ensure required documentation is obtained.
Act as liaison between vendors and internal departments for non-conforming goods.
Provide support and communication across teams to ensure smooth purchasing workflow.

Other & Miscellaneous (10%)
Drive continuous improvement in efficiency and cost reduction within purchasing processes.
Maintain high ethical standards and compliance with company policies.
Support special projects and assignments from leadership.
Maintain clean, safe, and professional working environment.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Minimum 5 years of management experience in purchasing/procurement.
Automotive-related industry experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings required.
Purchasing-related certifications/licenses a strong plus.
Proficiency with ERP systems and MS Office Suite.
Experience using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) preferred.

Language skills: English required; Japanese or Spanish helpful but not required.

Travel & Work Style
20–30% travel to supplier sites (domestic and international: potential trips to Thailand, Mexico, and Japan). Travel is encouraged but not mandatory.

Hybrid work model: up to 2 remote days per week.
