Detail: Application Engineer (Technical Sales Support)

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid: 1 day/week WFH)

A global electronics manufacturer is seeking an Application Engineer to provide technical sales support for customers in Texas and Mexico. This role focuses on customer-facing technical support, collaboration with R&D teams, and market-driven product planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical sales support to customers across Texas and Mexico through on-site visits and web meetings.
Travel to customer locations approximately 2–3 times per month.
Work closely with internal sales teams to support product-related technical inquiries and solutions.
Collaborate with R&D teams (Japan headquarters) on technical questions, product development, and ongoing projects.
Review and validate customer questionnaires, specifications, and approval documents.
Support ongoing projects and handle special assignments from management.
Analyze U.S. market trends and propose new product ideas to R&D (industries include automotive, industrial, new energy, ICT, and home appliances).
Handle customer complaints and provide technical resolutions.
Share updates on new products and product changes with internal sales teams.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in application engineering, technical support, or related roles.
Educational background in a technical field (chemistry, physics, or other science/engineering disciplines) from high school, technical college, or university.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to support customers with technical knowledge.
Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate effectively across teams.

Language Requirements:

English: Required (business level)
Japanese: Preferred but not required

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (Texas & Mexico region)
Proactive and customer-focused mindset; comfortable with frequent external engagement
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Hybrid work style (1 day per week work-from-home)

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary: Approximately $70,000/year
