JOB DESCRIPTION
Objective
Lead and manage the accounting team as a key partner to the VP, ensuring accurate and
timely financial reporting in compliance with applicable accounting standards and company

policies, while strengthening internal controls and supporting management’s decision-
making.

Performance

standards and company policies.

• Ensure quarterly-end close is completed within the agreed timeline with minimal post-
close adjustments.

• Maintain and continuously improve internal controls and accounting processes.
• Support management decision-making by providing reliable financial data and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and external audit/tax requirements.

Primary Duties
Responsibilities:Accounting Manager leads the team while remaining hands-on, and is responsible for key
accounting activities and stakeholder coordination, with primary duties and responsibilities
including the following:

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes for the U.S. entity and other affiliate companies in the U.S. and in Mexico (“the Companies”) including hands-on preparation and review as needed. • Prepare and/or review financial statements for the Companies in accordance with IFRS, assuring quality and accuracy. • Ensure alignment with headquarters requirements and provide timely, accurate reporting to headquarters. • Manage the general ledger, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations to ensure accounting standards are met. • Coordinate with external auditors and lead audit processes, manage scope/timeline; resolve significant issues. • Manage federal, state, and local tax filings end-to-end in coordination with external tax advisors, ensuring timely completion and accurate inputs. • Drive tax due diligence for potential projects with support from external tax advisors. • Lead tax optimization studies and initiatives and drive implementation. • Review and approve invoices and payments, ensuring compliance with company policies and internal controls. • Manage and monitor the Companies’ cash flow and cash positions. • Execute capital injections, capital redemptions, and intercompany loans as needed, depending on the Companies’ financial situation. • Lead, supervise and mentor accounting staff. • Set objectives, assign work, and ensure timely completion of high-quality deliverables through defined review standards and clear escalation paths. • Provide training and guidance to team members. • Lead hiring and performance management.


• Serve as a key point of contact with the parent company. • Lead and execute budgets and forecasts for the Companies, ensure assumptions tie to results/cash flow. • Provide financial analysis to support business decision-making. • Lead initiatives to improve accounting and finance processes. • Execute other tasks as requested by VP, Corporate.

Qualifications
Requirements

• USCPA or equivalent level of accounting and tax knowledge.

Requirements

• 10+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on operational accounting.
• Experience managing or leading small accounting teams.
• Ability to handle both strategic oversight and day-to-day accounting tasks.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, including U.S. GAAP.
• Experience in preparing financial statement under U.S. GAAP or IFRS.
• Experience coordinating U.S. federal corporate income tax return (Form1120) with
external tax advisors.
• Experience in determining appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions or
deals.
• Experience communicating effectively with overseas headquarters.
• High level of responsibility, ownership, and attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a process improvement mindset.
• Japanese language skills (native level).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)

Preferred qualifications
• CPA or equivalent professional certification.
• Experience in the Oil & Gas or energy industry
• JV accounting experience, including partner billings/cash calls and JV
reporting etc.
