Position Overview
The Manager, Quality Engineering is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, end-to-end quality strategy across engineering, manufacturing, and product support organizations. This role leads quality systems implementation, process improvement initiatives, and reliability efforts to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. The manager will lead and mentor a team of quality engineers while driving continuous improvement, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities – Quality Systems & Process Excellence
Define, plan, and execute quality systems strategies across engineering and manufacturing organizations.
Develop, release, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and standards.
Lead internal and external quality system audits and factory audits.
Analyze and map business and manufacturing processes using Lean tools (e.g., Value Stream Mapping) to identify improvement opportunities.
Drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) systems and systemic issue resolution.
Lead Continuous Improvement Projects (CIPs) using structured problem-solving methodologies.
Key Responsibilities – Reliability & Failure Analysis
Perform failure analysis at the business and manufacturing process levels and lead 8D investigations to closure.
Analyze nonconformance trends, yield, QPPM, and reliability metrics; develop quality scorecards.
Conduct error code analysis, troubleshooting, and data-driven reporting.
Support reliability testing and compliance activities including HALT, HASS, GR&R, ESD, EMC, F47, and ISTA.
Key Responsibilities – Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with engineering, manufacturing, product support, and customers to meet quality deliverables.
Support and lead cross-functional process improvement initiatives.
Prepare and present project updates, reports, and executive summaries.
Conduct benchmarking studies to identify best practices and industry trends.
People Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop assigned quality engineers.
Drive continuous learning and professional development within the team.
Foster a culture of accountability, quality excellence, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
7–10 years of experience in Quality and Reliability Engineering, preferably in robotics or semiconductor equipment environments.
Strong knowledge of reliability modeling, apportionment, and quality tools such as GR&R, HALT, HASS, ESD, EMC, F47, and ISTA.
Proficiency with data collection, analysis tools, and instrumentation.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Strong project management capabilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with QMS implementation, improvement, and global rollout.
Knowledge of SEMI standards.
Certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, MES, or DM&DT.
Japanese language proficiency (oral and written) is a plus.
Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) desired but not mandatory.
Travel Requirement
Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 3–5% of the time.

$145K - $160K per year
