A Japanese chemical manufacturing company in Houston, TX is looking for a motivated Specialty Chemicals Sales Representative to help expand our sales portfolio of Amines and Engineering Plastic resins in the CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, Elastomers) and Industrial Plastic Compounds markets across the United States. In this hybrid role, ideal candidate will serve as a trusted technical advisor to existing customers while identifying and capturing new opportunities to grow revenue.
The company is seeking candidates who have approximately 5–8 years of experience in technical sales of chemical-related products, or those who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a science field with relevant sales experience. The role requires approximately 20–30% travel.

Position:Specialty Chemicals Sales Representative (CASE & Industrial Plastics)

■Summary
Company is looking for a Specialty Chemicals Sales Representative to help expand our sales portfolio of Amines and Engineering Plastic resins in the CASE and Industrial Plastic Compounds markets throughout the United States.

The ideal candidate will act as a trusted technical advisor to existing customers while proactively developing new business opportunities. This role will combine strong relationship management with technical knowledge to drive sales of our portfolio ensuring customers receive solutions that improve their formulations, performance, and competitiveness.

■Essential Duties
• Responsible for managing a set of existing accounts by deepening relationships, understanding customer needs, and expanding share for our specialty chemicals in CASE and industrial plastics applications.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities within the assigned territory to increase overall sales volume and revenue.
• Conduct technical consultations, product presentations, and on-site visits to demonstrate how our additives, resins, compounds, and performance chemicals solve customer challenges.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships through regular engagement, exceptional service, and proactive problem-solving.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams (R&D, sales and marketing) to provide market feedback and support customized solutions.
• Accurately forecast sales, manage the sales pipeline, track performance and properly (accurately and timely) report to the General Manager.
• Follow General Manager instructions, help prepare quotes, and help to close orders; while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer developments in the CASE and industrial plastics sectors.

■Work Hours & Working Conditions
Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Primary office location is Houston, TX with hybrid work arrangements.
Approximately 20-30% business travel across the USA, South America and Japan

• Base salary: $73K-$120K

■Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor of Science in closely related field or equivalent experience.
• 5–8 years of experience in specialty chemical technical sales, ideally focused on CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, Elastomers) and/or industrial plastic compounds.
• Willingness and ability to travel within the United States and/or internationally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity or hands-on experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Navision / Dynamics NAV) is preferred.
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to discuss chemistry, formulations, and product applications confidently with technical buyers.

■Preferred:
• Bachelor of Chemistry in closely related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in R&D combined with technical sales is welcomed.
• Established network or proven success selling into coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers, or plastics compounding markets.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment or distribution of specialty chemical products.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Self-motivated with a hunter mentality balanced by strong account management skills.
