A quantum computing startup (originating from research at Kyoto University and the Institute for Molecular Science) is seeking a researcher with a background in quantum error correction (QEC). The core mission of this role is to shape the fault-tolerance strategy for their devices, focusing on designing quantum architectures for physical hardware to help deliver a prototype fault-tolerant neutral-atom quantum computer by FY2027.

Responsibilities
* Analyze and design fault-tolerant circuits for syndrome measurement and logical operations.
* Optimize fault-tolerance protocols while factoring in hardware constraints, such as atomic movement.
* Collaborate with Engineering, Experimental Physics, and Software teams to incorporate necessary constraints and communicate hardware/software requirements.
* Implement quantum error correction directly on neutral atom hardware.

Qualifications
*[Required]**
* PhD or equivalent in Quantum Information, Physics, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
* Strong background in fault-tolerance and/or quantum error correction with a relevant track record of research publications.
* Strong cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.

**[Preferred]**
* Experience with qLDPC, magic state distillation, fault-tolerant gate synthesis, lattice surgery, circuit compilation, or code design.
* Programming experience in Python, Rust, Julia, C++, or similar languages, plus familiarity with Git version control.
* Experience numerically simulating and analyzing the performance of error correction protocols.
* Experience working with experimental teams to implement protocols in hardware, specifically in AMO (Atomic, Molecular, and Optical) physics.

Employment Details
* **Employment Type:** Full-time (2-month probation period with no change in conditions).

* **Working Hours:** Discretionary Labor System for R&D (deemed 8 hours/day; standard office hours are 9:00–18:00).
