Detail: Japanese IT company is seeking an Accountant for the Accounting Department in our New York or Texas office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and validate accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions, including invoices, payments, receipts, journal entries, payroll entries, and bank reconciliations, prior to processing in SAP.
• Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Support month-end closing, financial reporting, and audit requests by preparing, reviewing, and maintaining appropriate accounting records and documentation.
• Enter and process financial transactions in SAP and related accounting systems while maintaining confidentiality of all financial data.
• Participate in team, company, or other meetings, training, and webinars as needed or requested.
The right candidate will possess:
• A solid foundation in basic accounting principles, with the ability to accurately review and validate A/P, A/R, and G/L transactions.
• Strong accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and follow through to resolution.
• Integrity, discretion, and a professional approach when handling confidential financial information.
• Timely and clear communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with Japan Headquarters.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs in a team-oriented environment.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Associate degree in accounting, finance, or a similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; accounting major preferred.
• Two to three years of general accounting experience, including hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, payroll entries, and bank reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and the ability and willingness to learn and use ERP/accounting systems, including SAP.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to organize information clearly and consistently.
• Ability to work both collaboratively across functions and independently with appropriate judgment and follow-up.
• Accounting-related certifications are preferred but not required.
• Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
• Proficient Japanese communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to communicate with Headquarters in Japan.
