Detail: Japanese logistics company is seeking Air Coordinator in Carson, CA!

We are seeking for a dedicated and detail-driven Air Operations Coordinator to join our international logistics team. In this role, s/he will deliver excellent customer service while ensuring all air import and air export shipments are handled with care, accuracy, and in full compliance with the TSA and other regulations. This position starts as temp-to-hire with the potential to transition into permanent status.


Manage Air Cargo Operations
Oversee the coordination and management of air import and export shipments.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of all documentation, including airway bills, invoices, and customs declarations.
Plan and direct the flow of air traffic moving to and from overseas destinations.
Open files for each shipment in the dedicated software system.

Liaison with Stakeholders
Communicate effectively with airlines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
Resolve any issues or delays with shipments in a professional and efficient manner.
Negotiate with domestic customers, acting as an intermediary for foreign customers, to resolve problems and reach mutual agreements.

Compliance and Regulations
Ensure all operations adhere to local and international regulations, including customs and aviation rules.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to processes.
Assure that all dangerous goods shipments are handled according to regulations.
Assist customers with compliance issues, certification, physical inspection, and arrangements for dangerous goods packaging in compliance with regulations.

Inventory and Tracking Management
Monitor and update cargo movement using tracking systems and tools.
Maintain accurate records of shipments and provide regular status updates to clients and internal teams.
Track and communicate shipment delays or documentation issues to clients and overseas agents.

Customer Service
Provide exceptional service to clients by addressing inquiries, providing shipping solutions, and ensuring satisfaction.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to promote repeat business and referrals.

Team Collaboration
Work closely with other departments, including sales and warehouse, to ensure smooth logistics operations.
Support team members and contribute to achieving overall company goals.
Provide support to fellow associates, supervisors, and department managers as necessary.

Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement
Identify inefficiencies in current processes and propose solutions for improvement.
Handle unexpected issues, such as delays or damaged cargo, with a proactive approach.

Reporting and Analysis
Prepare and present regular reports on shipment status, performance metrics, and operational challenges.
Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for process optimization.
Prepare reports of transactions to facilitate billing for shippers, foreign customers, and consignees.

Cost Management
Monitor and manage operational costs to ensure profitability.
Negotiate rates with service providers to secure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

Training and Development
Train new hires on operational procedures and company policies.
Stay updated on industry best practices and share knowledge with the team.

Documentation and Recordkeeping
Examine documents such as invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to verify the conversion of merchandise weights or volumes.
File documents in an accurate and organized manner.


Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

· Minimum of 2 years of experience in air export operations is preferred but entry-level is acceptable if potential is shown.
· Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to listen, comprehend, and communicate effectively to achieve positive outcomes.
· Proactive mindset with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
· Experience with GoFreight software is an advantage.
· Familiarity with air import operations is a plus.
· Prior experience in freight forwarding is highly preferred.
· Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required.


Before transitioning to permanent status, the candidate must be able to pass a TSA background check and pre-employment background check.
